Interior Office build out of loft space
Architecture + Interiors by EMAD with Systems Furniture by Forward Space and Formed Space (GC)
A modern office goes sophisticated, with rich use of color and detail that challenges conventional workplace design and brings a hint of luxury to hardworking spaces.
Standard-issue offices, in the end, don’t fit anyone well. To create superior fit for an office space in a Chicago loft building, En Masse looked beyond the basics, digging into their client’s needs and work style, accessing unique sources for unexpected materials, furnishings and accents that would offer a clearly custom feel and function. Touches of graphic black and a distinctive olive green wainscot nod to the building’s industrial shell and create visual unity starting from the entry lobby and continuing throughout the spaces.
“It’s about creating a different material sensibility for an office, with rich details and color that makes the space special.”
— Lucas Goldbach
The kitchen centers around the client’s workplace coffee culture, with a signature pendant light and dramatic black stone backsplash that provides an eye-catching backdrop to the coffee bar. Subtle brass details, from kickplates to stylish table lamps, add richness to the visual storyline, while white-oak cabinetry adds beautiful texture to office storage. Furnishings were thoughtfully selected to convey edited design choices, elevating both the look and the experience of the office far beyond the everyday.
