One of our favorite En Masse studio rituals is the “Inspiration Breakfast.” Monthly, En Masse designers head into the studio to enjoy a coffee and a presentation led by one of our fellow designers. Not only is it a wonderful beginning to a day, but it is an opportunity to see what the selected speaker has been working on in the office or out of the office. Topics can include, a passion project, personal interest, educational knowledge, or even a recent trip that sparked architectural, artistic, or inspirational wisdom.
In spite of losing his luggage on the way, Lucas (Design Partner) had an amazing trip to Italy. Traveling the sweltering summer sun, he made his way to Castelfranco, Italy and towards Brombal Glass, a family-run glass company specializing in steel, brass, and bronze windows.
Shown in the many photos of Lucas’s presentation was an extraordinary facility of glass panes and thermally broken steel frame windows. In addition to Brombal’s products being thermally broken, tested and approved for all climates, they also provide finishes that are costal and pollution resistant, allowing clients to enjoy their beautiful windows for as long as possible.
With not only a hand for masterful techniques, much of Brombal's glass was of ambitious scale. As we think about projects that could use large scale glass, like projects that desire viewscape windows, gizmo windows, or even just an impressive statement window, we look forward to the of contributing Brombal glass to our projects.
Lucas shared that Altivole, Asolo, and Venice, Italy were all such beautiful sources for inspiration. Though many know that travel is the best way for ourselves to become inspired by new people, places, and things, what we often neglect to remember is that many of these new feelings and moments can be taken back home and given as gifts to others through visual storytelling. By sharing our stories in the En Masse studio, we are able to inspire each other with examples of rich materials, historic sites, or even just moments of joy.
